To Whom It May Concern:
We are sure that you are all aware of the recent
earthquakes that destroyed much of Haiti. After hearing about the devastation
and destruction, the Students of SRO decided that we wanted to help. In
particular, we wanted our school to help a Haitian school in great need.
Before the earthquake, the Pazapa
School for Special Needs in Jacmel (near
Port-of-Prince) served hundreds of poor children with mental or physical
disabilities. It assured that many
very vulnerable children would receive valuable training and not be neglected
or abandoned. In addition, it gave
parents the support they needed to raise their special-needs children. During the earthquake the Pazapa School was damaged beyond repair. In order to again provide those
essential services to the children and their families, the school needs to be
rebuilt.
Our goal for SRO is to raise $10,000 for the Pazapa School. Part of the price of SRO tickets will be
donated to that school. To raise
additional funds for this important cause, we are seeking donations—of
any amount—from the greater Topeka High community.
Checks should be made payable to Topeka High School
and turned in—with the enclosed form—before the SRO performances to
the main office or Choral Music Room.
(People who donate $25 or more by February 10 will have their name
printed in the SRO program.)
We appreciate your generosity in helping to rebuild
the Pazapa School, which provides such valuable
services and so desperately needs our help. We understand that times are hard, but there are people in
the world who are in much more trying situations. No donation is too big or small. By combining efforts, we, the Students of
SRO, and the greater THS community can help rebuild Pazapa! Thank you so much!
With gratitude,
SRO 2010 Directors
