TPAC Young Artist of the Year Award - Skyler Dykes
Skyler Dykes earned the 1st place certificate for 2014 in Vocal Music and earned a $500 scholarship.

Topeka High Wresters at the Folkstyle State Competition - Austin Tillman, Gabi Hunter
A couple of Topeka High wrestlers competed in state and national competitions March 29 and 30. Austin Tillman won his weight class at the Folkstyle State competition this weekend at the Expo Centre. Gabi Hunter (daughter of Dawn Romero-Hunter) competed in one of the premier women's tournaments in the nation. The tournament had over 550 competitors in a 2 day event. Gabi had 19 competitors in her age/weight division. Gabi placed 8th with a record of 3-3. Here is a link to the event results. You can find Gabi listed in the 159 weight results.

AVID Student Speaker from Topeka High Chosen - Manuela Garcia
Manuela has been selected as one of student speakers at AVID summer institute this summer 2014 in Dallas, TX. She will be speaking in front of thousands of educators from across the nation about how AVID has impacted her life. She also found out she was admitted into the UMKC School of Medicine 6 year program. If you see her please congratulate her on a job well done.

Model UN 2014 Results - Adrienne Cox, Colton Glasscock, Madison Lockhart, Lucas Ryan
Adrienne Cox was an officer, she presided over Economic and Social Council 1
Colton Glasscock won the Best Speech award for Political Council 1
Madison Lockhart won the Native Dress competition, displaying her native gear from Turkey
Lucas Ryan was voted the overall 3rd place delegate from all students competing.

Week at NASA - Lauren Sherwood
     Lauren Sherwood, senior, attended a week at NASA in Houston this summer where she planned a robotics and radiation mission and experienced life as an engineer and scientist. Lauren was one of ninety female high school students from 41 states who visited Johnson Space Center to participate in the Women in STEM High School Aerospace Scholars project, or WISH.
     She was selected based on completion of interactive, online lessons focused on space exploration and mapped to national education standards, academic merits and geographic diversity. The WISH program encourages young women to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics degrees and exposes them to the real-world applications of STEM careers at NASA.
     Lauren Sherwood attended the Dole Institute of Politics Youth Civic Leadership Institute July 17 - 20. Forty seniors of across the state were chosen to attend this event at the University of Kansas. Lauren had the opportunity to ìexperienceî college life via dormitory living as well as meet Kansas political leaders, participate in seminars on juvenile delinquency, gun control, child obesity, college loan default issues, and enjoy many other activities.
