About Us

September 3, 2013: Our women's tennis team is off to a good start this season. We beat Manhattan High School in a duo, 5 matches to 4. We won 2 out of 3 doubles courts, but lost 3 out of 5 singles courts with one still playing. Katie Hurocy was trailing 4-1, but came back to win the deciding match 8-5! Teghan Beam had lopsided wins in both singles and doubles (with Lauren Doblin).

Last week, part of the Varsity played in the Wamego Inv. Each player has to sit out one meet as we rotate. #1 singles player Whitney Holloman is now 5-0 and the #1 doubles team of Hurocy and Kim Buzbee are 1-0 after beating a strong Manhattan team. Clair Joens, Teghan Beam, Lauren Doblin, and Abby Wiebler all have some Varsity wins for us.

Overall: We have 3 of our tennis players pictured in today's Capitol Journal for being part of the All-City team. They all qualified for State and played well. Whitney Holloman was our top singles player and the top doubles team was Kimberly Buzbee/Katie Hurocy. Kim and Katie won four out of seven matches at State, but their best effort was in their loss to the championship team from Blue Valley. Blue Valley only lost five games and four of those were to us.
